Group Spiritual Direction

“In group spiritual direction the goal is not to answer life’s questions.
The goal is to draw closer to God in the midst of the questions.”
~Seeking God Together, Alice Fryling

Currently, one spiritual direction group is meeting at St. Anne’s at 10:00 a.m. on the second Monday of the month. This group uses the prayerful practice of Lectio Divina to delve more deeply into scripture to uncover the messages and understandings the Spirit offers for each group member and the group as a whole. Additionally, the practice of Lectio Divina helps us to become deeply present to God’s ongoing conversation with us. When we pray with Lectio Divina, scripture is revealed as the living word of God being spoken to our hearts every moment.

The intention of this group is to help each participant become more aware of God’s presence, action and love in the circumstances and events of our everyday life. Group members are affirmed and supported by the group in their individual relationship with God in a safe, confidential and encouraging environment.

The group is facilitated by Elizabeth Buss, a chaplain at the Phoebe Home in Allentown and holds a graduate certificate in spiritual direction from the Moravian Theological Seminary. There is a sliding scale fee of from $5.00 to $10.00 per meeting. However, if you wish to participate in the group and cannot afford the fee, the fee will be waived.

The group is open to new members. If you would like to join the group, have questions about spiritual direction, group or individual, or are interested in forming another group, please contact Elizabeth at elizbuss@me.com or 610-955-4732.
